Cruising Experience Charters
Build miles and sailing skills while cruising the Exumas.
If you’re a new boat owner, considering buying a sailing catamaran, or just want to know if blue water catamarans are for you, we’ve got the experience you’re looking for.
Join Jason and Lara aboard their St. Francis 50, Tahina, which they sailed from the Caribbean to New Zealand as crew, then later purchased and fully refit after her circumnavigation was complete. They’ll gladly share stories of their journey to catamaran ownership, lessons learned, skills and answer any questions they can while you’re aboard.
The Real Deal
On a cruising experience charter, we’ll build a special itinerary tailored to your experience level and goals, offering you the opportunity to build practical skills aboard a live-aboard catamaran outfitted for long-distance cruising.
This is a great opportunity for recent ASA and RYA course graduates, soon-to-be-catamaran owners, and the cruising-curious who want to have real-life experience in the life before making the leap.
Twice per season, we also offer the opportunity to join us on passage as we transit to and from the Bahamas. This experience is best suited to sailors with some practical coastal sailing experience, whose travel dates can be flexible in response to dynamic weather conditions.
Skills you can practice:
- Navigation, pilotage and routing
- Line handling
- Sail management and trim
- Anchoring and mooring
- Dinghy driving and stowage
- Deck safety
- Provisioning and food prep
- Pre-departure checks
We’re also happy to discuss our current systems configuration and the rationale for why we made those choices, as well as any other considerations that may be of value for new boat owners.
